First few days in South Africa
Really nice place
So I arrived to Cape Town without any delays on my flights. I was even lucky enough not to have to pay anything for my excess baggage on the way out from Toronto.
Steven Van Broeckhoven was waiting for me when I came out of the airport in Cape Town on Thursday night to help me with my bags.
The first few days of sailing were a bit all over the place. We had two good days of freestyling on Lake Rietvlei. In one of the photos you can see me doing a Kono in front of Table Mountain, the backdrop on the lake. Both days on the lake I was sailing on my 4.6 Revolution.
We also had a good day of down the line wave sailing at a spot called Paternoster, about a one hour drive away. It was my first time riding waves with wind from the left. Hopefully we get more days like that soon, as it was a lot of fun.
Thanks to Hylke Bakker for the photos.
